Dimako Holdings, a leading South African industrial investor committed to advancing local economic growth, has officially acquired Crabtree South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Lesotho) from Siemens Regional Company.

The landmark ownership transfer was finalized at Avani Lesotho in Maseru, on Thursday, 28th of August 2025.

Speaking at the event, KDI Holdings Chairman, Mr. Kuseni Dlamini, emphasized the legacy and reputation of the brand:

“Crabtree is not just a company, but a trusted and iconic brand with deep roots in both Lesotho and South Africa – a name synonymous with quality, innovation, and excellence in electrical solutions. This transaction is more than a business deal; it is a bold vote of confidence in Lesotho. We see Lesotho as a hub of manufacturing excellence, regional export competitiveness, and industrial revitalization supported by government policy.”

Adv. Molise Ramaili, ICEO of the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), highlighted the broader significance for the country:

“This occasion is a testament to the opportunities that exist for Lesotho to position itself as a preferred investment and sourcing destination, as well as a platform for expanding existing businesses. At LNDC, our mandate is clear; it is to initiate, facilitate, and promote industrial and commercial development that raises employment and income levels. We are proud to have enabled Crabtree’s continued growth and expansion in Lesotho.”

Echoing this sentiment, Hon. Mokhethi Shelile, Minister of Trade, Industry and Business Development, underscored Crabtree’s long-standing contribution:

“Over the years, Crabtree has been a cornerstone of innovation, industrial capability, and technological advancement within our manufacturing sector. Its role in job creation, skills development, and advancing our broader trade and industrialization agenda has been meaningful. This transition marks not only a new chapter for Crabtree, but also for the goals of our government’s industrial policy.”

Delivering his closing remarks, The Rt. Honourable Prime Minister Sam Matekane reaffirmed the government’s commitment to private-sector-led growth:

“This deal brings to life our vision for private-sector development. The government of Lesotho, through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development, will continue to create policies that enable such economic activities. We are confident that LNDC, as the implementing arm of our industrialization policy, will keep facilitating business transactions like the one we celebrate today.”
